DIAKONIA DIAKAID
“Spreading hope. Create future.”
DIAKAID is the funding programme of the DIAKONIA WORLD FEDERATION. Each year, we support diaconal projects and emergency responses carried out by our member organisations around the world. Together, we strengthen people who serve others and promote sustainable support where it is needed most.
What is DIAKAID?
DIAKAID stands for lived solidarity within the global DIAKONIA network. We support projects that help people in need, strengthen communities, and create new opportunities. DIAKAID is about more than financial support. As an international community, we share knowledge, experience, and resources – enabling cooperation across borders.
What we support
We especially support projects that:
- 🤝 provide direct help to people in need
- 🌱 enable self-help and empowerment
- 🏘️ strengthen community and solidarity
- 📚 train and support diaconal staff and volunteers
- 🛠️ provide essential equipment for diaconal work
❗ Pure food distribution projects are not supported.
More than funding: networking & cooperation
DIAKAID does more than provide funding, we connect people.
Projects that we find convincing but cannot fund may be shared within the DIAKONIA network. This helps create new contacts, partnerships, and mutual support.
Our long-term goal is to share resources, learn from one another, and strengthen sustainable cooperation.
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants are DIAKONIA member organisations and their members.
Cooperation with churches, diaconal communities, or non-profit organisations is possible, provided that a DIAKONIA member organisation plays a significant role.
