2025 DIAKONIA World Assembly
The 2025 DIAKONIA World Federation Assembly will be held in Moshi, Tanzania, in collaboration with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT).
Moshi is a town in northern Tanzania at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Moshi is known for its coffee farms and has busy, colourful streets where there is always something interesting to discover and people to meet. Moshi is a safe place, and there is no stress in Moshi, only pole pole, which is pronounced “polay polay” and means slowly, slowly in Swahili.
Dates: 7th – 12th July
Monday 7th July: Arrival and registration; welcome and cultural program in evening
Tuesday 8th – Friday 11th: program days
Saturday 12th: departure day (see note below)
Venue: main program at Lutheran Uhuru Hostel & Conference Centre
Accommodation: Uhuru Hostel and Conference Centre and partner hotels in Moshi (register early if you’d like accommodation on site)
Note: those attending may arrive earlier or leave later in order to plan independent tourist activities – a safari, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, exploring Moshi and surrounds, and other parts of Tanzania and Africa. Moshi is the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro so there are plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring the famous mountain. But if you aren’t interested in hiking there are many other trips and tours to do, like going on a day trip to Kikuletwa Hot Springs, an unexpected oasis in the desert scrub, or to Arusha National Park and Tarangire National Park, where wild animals like elephants and giraffe roam.
Registrations for DIAKONIA World Assembly will begin on 1st September 2024 with early bird discount. Get in early!!
June is the start of the ‘high season’ for tourism so make travel plans early for July 2025.
