Welcome to the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a small country with a rich history and a strong tradition of openness, community and international exchange. It is famous for its bicycles, canals, windmills and landscapes shaped by water. In the heart of the country lies Amerongen, a small historic village surrounded by forests and the beautiful landscape of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Its best-known landmark is Amerongen Castle, whose history goes back several centuries. With its peaceful surroundings and cities such as Utrecht, Rotterdam and Amsterdam within easy reach, Amerongen is a wonderful place to meet, connect and spend time together.

If you have the time, we recommend combining your journey to the conference with an extra weekend before or afterwards, for example in Amsterdam. But there is much more to discover across the Netherlands, with many beautiful towns, historic places, museums and cultural attractions throughout the country.

Our conference venue

Our conference will take place at Hebron Missie in Amerongen. The venue has a special connection to our host community. From 1935, the building served as the motherhouse of the Diaconale Leefgemeenschap Bethanië and was a centre for their life and work for many years. Today, Hebron Missie is a Christian centre for community, learning and encounter.

The large building has several floors and offers different rooms for meetings, workshops and time together. During the conference, Hebron will be our main meeting place and all participants will have lunch and dinner here together. The building is only partly accessible for people with limited mobility. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know when you register so that we can find the best possible solution together.

Hebron also has a limited number of single and double rooms. For organisational reasons, these rooms will mainly be used for our members travelling from Africa, as this helps us to make their travel and stay as easy as possible. Other participants will stay in nearby hotels. Please note that Hebron is not a hotel. It is an active Christian centre and Bible school, and accommodation is only one part of its work. For this reason, arriving before the conference or staying longer afterwards is only possible in very limited cases. We kindly ask participants not to contact Hebron directly about rooms or additional nights.

Our hotels

In addition to Hebron, we have arranged accommodation at two nearby hotels. Both hotels offer single and double rooms, and breakfast is included for our conference participants.

Buitenlust Amerongen is a small and welcoming hotel in the centre of Amerongen, only around 420 metres from Hebron. It can easily be reached on foot in about 10 minutes. Please note that Buitenlust is already fully booked before and after our conference. It is therefore not possible to arrange additional nights there.

Boshotel Overberg is a larger hotel located close to the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is around 4 kilometres from Hebron and can be reached by car in about 10 minutes. The hotel has a lift and accessible rooms. Participants who would like to arrive earlier or stay longer may contact Boshotel Overberg directly to ask whether additional nights are available. As there was not enough suitable accommodation within walking distance for everyone, some participants will stay here. We would be very grateful if participants travelling by car could choose this hotel and, where possible, help others with the short journey between the hotel and Hebron.

Getting to Amerongen

By Plane

For most international participants, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the most convenient airport. The railway station is located directly below the airport terminal, so you can continue your journey by train immediately after arrival. From Schiphol, take a train towards Utrecht. From Utrecht, continue by public transport to Amerongen. Please use the 9292 journey planner or others to find the best connection.

By train

International train connections from Germany, Belgium and other European countries provide good access to the Netherlands. Utrecht Centraal is the main transport hub for travelling onwards to Amerongen. Amerongen does not have its own railway station. A convenient option is to travel to Driebergen-Zeist railway station and continue by bus towards Amerongen. Please use the 9292 journey planner or others to find the best connection.

By car

Amerongen is centrally located in the Netherlands and is easy to reach by car. Several major roads provide good connections to the region. For the final part of your journey, we recommend using your navigation system and entering the address of your accommodation directly.
